  1. Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas Les Souteyrades

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#56344

    JD94+94–96 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/14/2020
Also showing considerable elegance, the 2019 Gigondas Les Souteyrades sports a ruby/purple hue to go with beautiful and exotic notes of black raspberries, kirsch, candied orange, violets, and peppery garrigue. Beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied, and downright silky on the palate, this heavenly Grenache should be snatched up by readers. It’s going to keep for 15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP93+93–95 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2021
Not as effusive on the nose as the La Louisiane, the 2019 Gigondas les Souteyrades is drier, sterner stuff — not as immediately approachable, with more savory notes of black olives and earth. There are still notes of ripe plums and raspberries in this full-bodied effort but also a firm core of dusty tannins to ensure more than a decade of longevity. It’s a blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre from a clay-rich, north-facing slope.

  2. Doubleback Estate Reserve

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#59738

    RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th May 2023
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve bursts with an impressive nose and was made with the addition of 10% Petit Verdot and 3% Merlot. There are healthy and seductive aromas on the nose along with succulent black plum, spiced cherry compote and blackberry skin before elegant brown baking spices lift out of the glass with resinous red and purple flowers. Full-bodied, big and juicy, with plenty of oak, the palate offers a fine mineral tension, harmoniously balanced fine-grained tannins and succulent acidity. The wine continues to somersault and uncoil across the bold, long-lingering and generous finish that leaves behind a firm tannic edge. Give this at least two more years in the bottle before opening, but I suspect it will be better with three. Bravo! (Anthony Mueller)
    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, June 4, 2023
Notes of plums and blueberries with violets, lilac and dark chocolate. Juicy and fruit-forward with crunchy tannins and a vivid, blue-fruited finish. Hints of spices and cocoa to close. Drink now. (James Suckling)

  3. DuMOL Wester Reach Pinot Noir

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58951

    WE9696 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2022
Spicy, high-toned and strong in tannin, this is an impressive wine in its youth that will only get better. Cardamon, rose petal, black tea and tree bark give it a savory edginess that appeals and adds to the overall complexity and measured weight, finishing bright and fresh. Enjoy best 2030–2035. (Virginie Boone)
    RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022
The 2020 Pinot Noir Wester Reach is one of Dumol’s larger cuvées, and production was normal despite the challenges of the vintage (3,750 cases). It has alluring purity on the nose, with scents of cranberries, rhubarb, tobacco leaves, orange peel and aniseed. The medium-bodied palate is concentrated and powerful without losing detail, framed by powdery tannins and refreshing acidity. It offers an array of spice and floral accents on the finish. Lovely! (Erin Brooks)
    JD9393 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/2/2022
The 2020 Pinot Noir Wester Reach has a rich perfume of black cherry cola, sassafras, and sweet violets. The palate is full and ripe, with black raspberry as well as ripe tannins and a note of black tea. Drink over the next 15 or more years. (Audrey Frick)
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022
Delivers a core of gently mulled blood orange and pomegranate, with anise and singed vanilla on the finish. Features a light echo of wood spice, too. A juicy, open, crowd-pleaser style. Drink now through 2025. 3,814 cases made. (James Molesworth)
    VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022
The 2020 Pinot Noir Wester Reach is a soft, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years. Crushed red berry fruit, spice, mint and rose petal are some of the notes that grace this airy, delicate Pinot from DuMOL.

  4. E. Guigal Château d’Ampuis Côte Rôtie

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#57945

    JD97+97–99 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 2/16/2022
I was blown away by the 2018 Côte Rôtie Château D’Ampuis, which is certainly in the same league as the famed La Las. Coming from seven single vineyards and seeing the same upbringing as the flagship releases, this reveals a vivid purple hue as well as stunning aromatics of cassis, smoked game, spring flowers, and subtle smoke. It has background espresso-laced oak that’s perfectly integrated, it’s full-bodied, and it has ripe, polished tannins and a great finish. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, March 21, 2022
The very deep, smoky and spicy nose pulls you into this very concentrated, focused and elegant Cote-Rotie, with delicate notes of coconut and pomegranate adding to the very complex picture. Very long, polished finish with delicate sweetness and underplayed power. Drink or hold.
    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 10th Feb 2022
Smoky, briary and complex, the 2018 Cote Rotie Chateau d’Ampuis spent 38 months in new oak, yet it still exudes notes of blackberries and blueberries, testament to the wine’s ample concentration. It’s full-bodied and rich yet silky and long, with hints of mocha and brown sugar appearing on the finish. It’s another beautiful vintage of this cuvée, which combines fruit from seven different parcels (three on the Cote Blonde and four on the Cote Brune).

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#59671

    RP94+94+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 17th Jan 2023
There is around 20% new oak in the 2020 Flor de Pingus, and because it has a little younger vines (there was a land-consolidation project in La Horra in 2006!), there’ll be some Garnacha starting in 2021 and maybe some oak vats for aging too. All this shows the direction, where he found structure and volume in the palate, with textured tannins. It’s harmonious and elegant, aromatic and floral, perfumed and showy, with contained ripeness and around 14% alcohol. The palate is quite powerful, with abundant but fine tannins. 110,000 bottles were filled in July 2022. (Luis Gutiérrez)
    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2023
Plush in texture and elegant overall, with a fresh spine of acidity enlivening black plum reduction and crushed black cherry fruit, violet and tobacco, vanilla and mineral accents as they wrap around a firm core of fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2030. 9,000 cases made. (Alison Napjus)

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#54840

    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 17th Dec 2020
A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Zizzolo is a bright and slightly downplayed or underripe wine. The focus here is on the freshness of the fruit rather than richness or extraction, and the cooler vintage has done its part to shape these results. Sour cherry and tart berry cede to spice, tar, tobacco and potting soil. Have it with a vegetarian pizza. Some 25,000 bottles were made.

Blended of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Bosche Vineyard has a deep garnet-purple color and is scented of earthy nuances of truffles, dusty soil and underbrush with a core of crème de cassis, black cherry compote and blueberry pie plus hints of camphor and scorched earth. 9. G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#58604

    WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2022
Lovely Nebbiolo aromas of rose, violet, red berry and botanical herb shape the fragrant nose. Smooth and savory, the elegant palate features juicy red cherry, crushed raspberry and cake spice alongside polished tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. It’s already drinking beautifully but also promises years of pleasure. Enjoy through 2030. (Kerin O’Keefe)
    RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th Aug 2022
This wine consistently delivers one of the greatest values to be found in Italian wine. The G.D. Vajra 2018 Barolo Albe has all its cards in play as an immediately enjoyable and extremely food-friendly Nebbiolo. This really is the top of the category in that sense. With straightforward winemaking (fermentation is in steel and aging in large Slavonian oak casks), the wine offers bold cherry, wild plum and plenty of fragrant blue flower and violet. This vintage has the added benefit of softly textured richness. (Monica Larner)
    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2022
A taut, sinewy red, this keeps cherry, strawberry, floral and underbrush flavors under a wrap of tannins for now. Overall, the components are well-proportioned, and this ends with complexity, harmony and length. Best from 2024 through 2036. 3,417 cases made. (Bruce Sanderson)
    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, October 2, 2022
Aromas of ripe raspberries and dark spice follow through to a medium-to full-bodied palate, with some fine, fruit and spice-coated tannin and a medium finish that firms up at the end. Sustainable. Give this a year or two. Best from 2024.
    WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/22
This is the estate’s entry-level Barolo, but, according to Giuseppe Vaira, the family never views it as a leftover wine. They harvest nebbiolo from younger vines in the same three high-elevation vineyards each year, although those vines now average 30 years of age. The wine shows classic notes of tar and licorice, with smooth tannins and ripe dark-fruit flavors that make it approachable in its youth.

  10. Gaja Sorì Tildin

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#54322

    VN100100 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2019
The 2016 Barbaresco Sorì Tildìn is a fabulous, incredibly complete wine that soars out of the glass with explosive structure and vertical lift. The tannins are very much present, but also matched beautifully by the wine’s aromatic intensity and overall drive. Dark macerated cherry, spice, leather, licorice, plum and mocha add darker shades of nuance. In 2016, Sorì Tildìn is a bit more brooding and bigger than it often is, and yet all the elements are impeccably balanced. It is quite simply a majestic wine of real grandeur and total class, but it is not obvious. Sorì Tildìn will appeal most to readers who understand what the truest essence of Nebbiolo is all about. In a word: magnificent!
    JD9898 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - November 5, 2019
Coming from a warmer, south-facing site, the 2016 Barbaresco Sori Tildin is a more concentrated, vibrant wine compared to the straight Barbaresco and has vivid notes of bright cherry fruits, rose petals, road tar, violets and even a hint of orange blossom. Incredible on the palate, with medium to full body, an incredible, seamless texture, ultra-fine tannins, and a monster finish. The tannins here are unquestionably on another level and are perfectly ripe, and this just about off-the-charts 2016 has a Grand Cru Red Burgundy-like texture, elegance, and stature. This bottle didn’t hit prime time until the second day, so either give bottles a healthy decant or, even better, 5–7 years in a cold cellar. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 8th Aug 2019
Here’s a wonderfully spicy and opulent rendition of Nebbiolo and another very full and rich Barbaresco from Gaja. The 2016 Barbaresco Sorì Tildìn is open, more concentrated and structured. There are pretty floral notes of rose hip or wild rose in this generous wine of broad scope. We’re talking about smaller fruit here, with plums, cassis, blackberry and plenty of power. Everything came to perfect maturity in this 2016 vintage, representing that rare merge of quantity and quality. This is what you get from the dense soils of the warm, south-facing Sorì Tildìn site and similar ones where the terrain can keep the moisture locked in. The 2016 growing season was also marked by sharp diurnal shifts, and rainfall was well-timed to occur when it was needed most.
    JS9797 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 7, 2019
Extremely perfumed aromas of dried flowers, dried strawberries and pumice, as well as tar, following through to a full body, with chewy and polished tannins and a long, juicy finish. Quite broad tannins. Dusty texture. Drink after 2021.
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2020
Supple and concentrated, delivering cherry, strawberry, iron, tobacco and loamy earth flavors. Gets silkier and more graceful, playing out on the long finish. Shows excellent harmony and complexity. Best from 2022 through 2040. 175 cases imported.
    WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 1/1/2020
Red berry, exotic spice and a whiff of camphor form the enticing nose. Firmly structured but loaded with finesse, the linear palate delivers crunchy red cherry, pomegranate, star anise and white pepper alongside tightly knit, noble tannins. It’s still youthfully austere but already impeccably balanced, with vibrant acidity. Drink 2023–2041.

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#53712

    RP89+89+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Jan 2020
From French clones planted in the Berg Schlossberg, Berg Rottland and on flatter sites and vinified in smaller barrels, the 2017 Spätburgunder Pinot Noir offers darker-toned and intense fruit with discreet toasty and spicy notes. Lush and round but elegant and fresh on the palate, this is a medium-bodied, quite filigreed and fresh Pinot Noir, with a fine and refreshing but also intense finish with delicate acidity and very fine tannins. 12% alcohol. Tasted in August 2019.

  12. Hermann J. Wiemer Dry Riesling

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#41053

    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, April 28, 2022
Beautiful fresh-pineapple aroma with hints of yellow grapefruit zest, candied lemon and graphite. Excellent balance of stone-fruit juiciness, medium body and citrusy freshness. Quite a compact mid-palate, then an impressive finish with mineral tension and a graphite note. Drink or hold.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 21st Apr 2022
The 2020 Dry Riesling comes in with seven grams of residual sugar and 12.1% alcohol. This is a blend of vineyards, often a very good value in the somewhat pricey lineup. It is again. This year, in its youth, it has a touch of sugar around the edges, a friendly feel and a lush finish. It doesn’t have the steely hints that, relatively speaking, the 2019 could sometimes project, granting that they are not here together. They look the same on paper, but at least from recollection, they are at least a little different in style, feeding into the stereotypes of the 2019/2020 vintage styles. There is certainly reasonable acidity on the finish here with some tension cutting the fruit and sugar, but this is firmly in the friendly puppy style. If someone told me it was close to a semi-dry, I wouldn’t necessarily have been shocked. The very good news, though, is that it is simply delicious, likely to be a crowd-pleaser and something that will put smiles on faces at a very nice price.

Deep garnet-black colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard unfurls sensuously from the glass with provocative scents of baked black cherries, plum preserves and crème de cassis, with emerging suggestions of fragrant earth, black truffles, Chinese five spice and dusty soil. Full-bodied, rich and oh-so-spicy on the palate, it has a rock-solid backbone of grainy tannins and lively acidity supporting the opulent fruit, finishing very long and exotic. RP100100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 16th Dec 2021
Sporting an opaque garnet-purple color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard needs a fair bit of coaxing to unlock fabulously evocative notions of pure cassis, ripe, juicy black plums and wild blueberries, plus suggestions of candied violets, cinnamon stick and fenugreek, with a touch of fallen leaves. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with poise and sophistication, shimmering with energetic black and blue fruit layers and a perfectly plush texture, finishing with a dazzling display of minerals and floral fireworks.
