RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 21st Dec 2009 The 2006 MONEMVASIA LIASTOS was sun dried for 15 days and then aged in oak. Relatively light, it is laced with apricot and peach nuances, not particularly syrupy, and not as rich in the palate as the nose promises. It is very tasty, but it does thin fast and the fruit acquires a dried apricot nuance with air and warmth. The intense aromatics were its best feature. RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 24th Feb 2009 A superb success for the vintage, the 2006 exhibits a deep ruby/purple hue as well as a poised, classic bouquet of sweet black cherries, graphite, camphor, truffles, and a subtle hint of oak. Medium-bodied with a stunningly layered texture, impressive purity, and beautiful balance, this cuvee is haute couture in a glass. Although surprisingly approachable, it won’t hit its adolescent stage for 8–10 years, and will last for 25–30 years thereafter. Starts out earthy, but turns rich and beautiful. Evolves beautifully in the glass. Sappy aromas of black and blue fruits, licorice pastille and menthol lifted by a floral topnote. Then tight, dry and classic on the palate, with terrific energy and an impression of weightlessness to the youthfully imploded flavors of black fruits, minerals, camphor, cedar and tobacco. As smooth as it is, it's also quite serious and uncompromising. Showing better than a sample I tasted last year right after the bottling, but still an infant. Offers impressive cellaring potential.

It’s all from Bernkasteler Lay, harvested from early developing botrytis, which creates more elegant, less opulent tones. The aromas show remarkably pure pear and pineapple scents, with just a touch of dried apricots but also a sense of slate-driven minerality. With 300 cases imported, it should prove relatively easy to find.RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Oct 2008 So bountiful in sugar was this vintage, that not only did Dr. Loosen render Beerenauslese from most of the estate’s major vineyards, there is also a highly-affordable generic 2006 Riesling Beerenauslese. This displays a lovely dynamic of lemon and honey, a creamy richness, subtle suggestions of floral and herbal distillate, and the sort of polish, refinement, and well-judged residual sugar one expects from this great estate. If not terribly complex, it will hopefully serve over the coming decade as a window for many wine enthusiasts (especially as diners) to the unique balance and virtues (not least versatility) of nobly sweet Mosel wine. “My grandfather would have said ‘Too much Beerenauslese? Impossible!’” relates Loosen. “But in fact that’s how it was this year.” (And hard though this would have been to believe only until recently, one cannot rule out there being another such bumper crop of botrytized, mega-Oechsle Riesling.)

RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2017 Tasted for the third time now, the 2006 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Millésime Prestige offers a delicious and matured bouquet of ripe fruits, cream, caramel and brioche flavors. (The wine tasted here is from lot L6280NG09, which was disgorged in October 2016 after 9.5 years on the lees, with a dosage of less than five grams per liter.) It is pure, fresh and mineral on the palate, highly elegant and finessed but also intense, very well structured and provided with a perfect roundness in the long, clear and cleansing but also complex finish. This is by far the best lot I have tasted so far; it’s simply a gorgeous Champagne that I’d love to have with a never-ending Sunday morning brunch. Four percent of the base wines were fermented in oak, the rest in stainless steel. The grapes were sourced in six grand cru villages such as Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, Cramant, Chouilly and Oiry. Tasted on a dark and rainy November evening 2017. (Stephan Reinhardt)
