RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 The 2020 Beaujolais-Villages Le Perréon is another fine success, wafting from the glass with beautifully pure aromas of cherries, raspberries, plums and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent, with supple tannins and an enveloping core of juicy fruit, it’s refreshing and gourmand. This head-turning bistro red is already drinking well.
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 One of the last cuvées to be bottled this year was the 2021 Morgon Pré Jourdan, an impressive effort redolent of raspberries, cherries, sweet spices, rose petals and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it’s layered and charming, with attractive balance and a long, expansive finish. (William Kelley)
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 Offering up aromas of smoky berries, peonies and forest floor, the 2021 Brouilly Reverdon is medium-bodied, supple and polished, with lively acids and a seamless, nicely balanced profile. (William Kelley)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 The 2021 Côte de Brouilly has turned out nicely, mingling aromas of cherries and berries with notions of burning embers and forest floor. Medium-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with a lively core of fruit, powdery tannins and a sapid, saline finish, it marks a return to a more classically proportioned style after several richer, riper vintages. This tasting note refers to the cuvée imported in the United States, but readers in the rest of the world will find that the estate’s Sept Vignes bottling, which sees a light filtration, is very similar in profile. (William Kelley)
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Sep 2022 The 2021 Fleurie from Clos de la Roilette is drinking well out of the gates, offering up pretty aromas of spiced plums, petals and orange rind, followed by a medium-bodied, supple and melting palate. Fleshy and fine-boned, it’s a pretty, demonstrative wine that will show at its best young. It’s bottled under Nomacorc. (William Kelley)
RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Sep 2022 Fans of old-school Beaujolais will adore the 2021 Fleurie Cuvée Tardive from the Clos de la Roilette. Bursting with aromas of crunchy red berries, peonies, spices and plums, it’s medium-bodied, ample and enveloping, with succulent acids, melting tannins and a pretty, perfumed finish. Despite the challenges of the year, the Coudert family have produced a lovely classic, and it’s a wine that’s much more drinkable and vibrant than some of the recent banner vintages at this address. (William Kelley)
RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Aug 2019 The 2018 Morgon Bellevue Sable comes from younger vines, planted on Viala rootstock in sandy soils — as the “sable” newly added to its label makes clear. Revealing aromas of blackberries, smoked meats, cracked pepper and violets, it’s medium to full-bodied, ample and muscular, with powdery structuring tannin, juicy acids and a blockier, more reserved profile than the Chiroubles and Brouilly that preceded it. This will demand a couple of years’ patience before it shows all its cards.
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 The 2020 Morgon Bellevue Sable mingles aromas of cherries and wild plums with hints of violets and spices. Medium to full-bodied, sumptuous and satiny, with succulent acids and melting tannins, it’s charming and seamless, standing out as one of the most demonstrative, immediate wines in the range. (William Kelley)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 The 2021 Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes is a pretty, charming wine, bursting with aromas of sweet berries and plums mingled with peonies and potpourri. Medium-bodied, fleshy and giving, with powdery tannins and tangy acids, it also exhibits impressive concentration for the vintage. (William Kelley)
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 The 2021 Morgon Côte du Py is excellent, offering up aromas of cherries, plums and berries mingled with notions of peony, burning embers and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it’s seamless and succulent, with melting tannins, lively acids and a long, precise finish. After the richer, more powerful 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages, the 2021 marks a return to a more classically proportioned style, even if Burgaud did a great job of avoiding excess and maximizing the potential of those riper vintages. (William Kelley)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 The 2020 Régnié Vallières is terrific, offering up aromas of cherries, plums and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a long, flavorful finish, it’s pure and seamless, with impeccable balance despite the extremes of the vintage.
RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 The 2020 Morgon Château Gaillard derives from a one-hectare parcel of old massal selection vines located within the climat of Douby and in its first year of organic certification. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, plums and spices, it’s medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with ripe but youthfully chewy tannins and a long, sapid finish. It’s a fine addition to the domaine’s range of singularly age-worthy Morgon bottlings.
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 Bright and charming, the 2021 Morgon Corcelette bursts with aromas of plums, raspberries, rose petals, vine smoke and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with bright acids and melting tannins, it’s another of the more immediate, giving wines in the range. (William Kelley)
RP94+94+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 The 2020 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, spices, rose petals, loamy soil and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with impressive reserves of ripe tannin and sapid fruit, it’s seamless and lively, concluding with a long, resonant finish. As ever, this is built to age, and it will reward patience, even if its youthful charms are considerable.
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 Aromas of red berries, cherries, peonies and orange rind introduce the 2020 Morgon La Voûte Saint-Vincent, a medium to full-bodied, lively and succulent wine with a seamless, integrated profile. Beautifully balanced, it’s a charming, youthfully approachable cuvée emphasizing the climat of Douby.
