Shop for Italian Wines

While the woven basket that surrounds that bottle of Chianti is iconic, it is by no means the only Italian wine worth having with pasta and meatballs. Italian wines are excellent because their low acidity and lush body increase the ease with which they pair with any kind of food. The general rule is that any meal with a red sauce can match with an Italian red wine, but Italian white wines also make excellent pairings with chicken, fish, and even pizza.

Italy boasts some of the world's oldest vineyards, as well as some of the most dignified and respected estates in the wine world. Whether you're shopping for a bright, juicy Montepulciano to drink with pizza or a refined, aged Barolo for a five-star night, WineMadeEasy.com is your source for Italian wine at great prices.

  1. Tre Monti Vigna Rocca

    Albana Secco
    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#58245

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2023
The 2021 Albana Vigna Rocca has a pretty white-golden color. Freshly sliced pear, dusty dried flowers and sweet smoke lift from the glass. A pleasant inner sweetness greets the senses, quickly followed by a contrasting burst of sour citrus and bright acids, yet the style remains understated and elegant throughout. Hints of green melon mingle with a staining of saline minerals as the 2021 finishes lightly structured. This is very nicely done, like skin-contact wine on training wheels, and I mean that in the best possible way. It makes for a great introduction to the category. (Eric Guido)

  2. Trediberri Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#55352

    WS9696 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/21
This wine reflects the energy and intensity of Nicola Oberto, Trediberri’s young winemaker. The harvest was one of the earliest in the winery’s history, and Oberto decided to forego post-fermentation maceration, to control the tannic extraction. The result is a wine that offers bright red-cherry flavors that are fresh and precise, buoyed by lively acidity and the high-toned floral scents that are a signature of this cru. It is an exciting wine, already poised and well-knit, with plenty of cellaring potential.
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021
The 2017 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata is powerful, dense and tightly wound. This is an especially dark, somber wine from a site where Barolos tend to be much more floral and red-toned in their fruit expression. At the same time, the Rocche is less impacted by oak than some of the earlier vintages, which leads me to think all the 2017 needs is time in bottle to unwind. There is a lot here.

  3. Trediberri Langhe Nebbiolo

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#59215

    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2022
The 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo is fabulous. Crushed berries, spice, mint, dried rose petal and licorice are beautifully delineated. The purity of the flavors is remarkable. Vineyard sites are Berri (35%), plus non-estate vineyards in Levice, Alta Langa (60% - leased) and Monticello d’Alba, Roero (5% - purchased fruit). The 2021 was vinified and aged entirely in cement, and yet it has plenty of structure. It is a terrific choice for readers on a budget, or even readers not on a budget! (Antonio Galloni)
    WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/22
This wine’s dark cherry and raspberry flavors are fleshy and ripe, driven by lively acidity as the wine takes on notes of thyme and tobacco leaf. Serve it at cellar temperature to balance the wine’s bold alcohol.

  9. Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#59846

    RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 9th Mar 2023
The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino opens nicely in the glass, drawing upon more intensity and depth as it does. It shows firm lines and a fleshed-out mouthfeel that encourages plenty of layering and textural richness. That velvety quality is the enduring signature of this estate, one that has achieved consistent results over the years. The only outlier to this pretty portrait is a 15% alcohol content that, although well absorbed by the wine’s texture, does risk becoming a distraction. Exactly 28,666 bottles were made. 10. Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#57481

    SP9898 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2022
Offers forthcoming aromas and flavors of blackberry, black currant, licorice, tobacco and vanilla backed by vivid acidity and dusty tannins, with a long, saline finish. Showing enough fruit and structure to absorb the oakiness over time, this is balanced overall and poised for a promising future. Best from 2026 through 2045. 800 cases made, 350 cases imported.
    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2021
Rich and deeply alluring, the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva wafts up to display crushed ashen stone mixed with hints of ginger, dusty florals and black cherry preserves. This is velvety-smooth and pliant in feel, lifted by cooling herbal and mineral tones, as an opulent wave of ripe red and black fruits washes across the palate, leaving a staining of minerals and spice in its wake. It’s long and structured, in need of further time to come fully into focus, yet somehow the 2016 Riserva remains completely fresh, tapering off to inner earth tones and hints of blueberry. Time will reveal further depths. This is an utterly classic Uccelliera Brunello in the making.
    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 17th Feb 2022
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a terrific wine: bold, well-defined, powerful and balanced. There are many good things to relate, but the high alcohol content (measured at 15.5%) is the only distraction. This is a trend in the Riserva category in the 2016 vintage. The bouquet shows black cherry, cassis, earth, leather and dried roses. The palate offers soft fruit flavors supported by firm oak tannins. Coming back to the bottle 24 hours later, I found impressive integration and smoothness that took away from that alcohol heat. Production is 9,600 bottles.
    JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 4, 2021
This is really polished and refined, yet remains polished and beautiful, with cherries and berries, as well as light hazelnut and walnut undertones. Compact and silky. Drink after 2024, but already so attractive.

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#55486

    JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, September 6, 2021
A very pretty young red with ripe red berries and hints of white chocolate, fresh herbs and whole peppercorns. Medium-bodied with soft tannins. Fresh and fruity. Pleasant to drink now.
    VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2021
The 2020 Il Frappato di Vittoria shows a pretty translucent ruby color matched by a fresh bouquet of dusty roses, spice and sour melon. It’s soft in texture with a peppery twang to its tart cherry and raspberry fruits. This tapers off a bit short but clean and classically dry.

  12. Valle dell’Acate Il Frappato

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#58850

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
The 2021 Frappato is a deeply expressive yet still lively expression, with hints of tangerine giving way to sour cherries and a mix of rose and violet florals. It’s softly textured yet full of citrus-derived tension and perfumed throughout, like liquid flowers offset by a spicy wave of blood orange. This finishes with length yet also remarkably fresh, and it leaves the mouth watering for more. I would be happy to drink this any day of the week. (Eric Guido)

    Nero d’Avola
    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#59549

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
The 2018 Nero d’Avola Il Moro is gorgeous from the first tilt of the glass, with a darkly alluring mix of ripe plums, balsam herbs, tobacco and hints of camphor that keep me coming back for more. This is silky in feel yet energetic, with dark red fruits and inner spices motivated by vibrant acidity, and a bump of sour citrus that seals the deal. There’s a bitter note that lingers through the finale, along with hints of cedar, all framed by subtle tannins. Give this a short stay in the cellar to show its best. (Eric Guido)
