VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021 A powerful, explosive wine, the 2019 Nervo Heritage Wine possesses tremendous energy right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, mint and spice lend striking aromatic nuance. The tannins are a big edgy at the moment, but time in bottle should take care of that. I imagine the 2019 will be positively stellar with a bit of bottle age.JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 7/22/2021 The 2019 Nervo Ranch Heritage is an Alexander Valley release, and the vines here were planted in the late 1890s on a 30-degree slope of shale just outside the town of Geyserville. Lots of spice, herbes de Provence, mulled cherries, and licorice notes all emerge from this beauty, and it’s medium-bodied, with a lively, elegant texture, present tannins, and a good finish. RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Jul 2018 Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Zinfandel St. Peter’s Church Vineyard has a nose of raspberry pie, blueberry compote and preserved plums with underlying hints of scorched earth, Indian spices, tobacco and stewed tea. Big, concentrated and full-bodied in the mouth, it has a racy line and a lovely plush texture, finishing with a compelling herbal lift. 165 cases were made.
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2022 Blending in 11% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec, this elegant wine displays the great conditions of the vintage, allowing blackberry fruit, fig, cedar and a note of dark chocolate to mingle over a medium-bodied palate of refined tannin and oak. (Virginie Boone)
JD9393 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - June 5, 2018 The 2016 Zinfandel Angeli (96% Zinfandel, 2% Syrah, and 2% Petite Sirah) comes from Alexander Valley in the northern part of California. Its plum/purple color is followed by a rockingly good bouquet of spiced plums, cedar, sandalwood, and exotic spice. Medium to full-bodied, focused, elegant and seamless, with a silky texture, it’s very much in the style of the 2016 vintage. While already hard to resist, it should keep for 6–7 years. It’s a great value. (Jeb Dunnuck)VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2018 Marietta’s 2016 Zinfandel Angeli is plush, deep, dense and beautifully textured. Expressive floral and spice notes add lift and nuance to this fresh, impeccably balanced Zinfandel. The purity of the fruit here is striking.
JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - May 21, 2020 A wine that always delivers, the 2018 Geyserville from Ridge comes all from a single vineyard in the Alexander Valley and checks in as 68% Zinfandel, 20% Carignane, 10% Petite Sirah, and the rest Alicante Bouschet. It has a big, cedary bouquet of red and black plums, sandalwood, potpourri, and Asian spices that develops and fills out nicely with time in the glass. This carries to a more medium-bodied Zinfandel that has wonderful purity of fruit, present yet ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a great, great finish. This structured yet ethereal example of this cuvée ranks with the finest vintages to date. Drink it any time over the coming 10–15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2020 Robust yet brooding, with multilayered black plum, licorice and Asian five-spice powder flavors that build richness toward big, briary tannins. Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Best from 2022 through 2030. 10,500 cases made.
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2022 Deeply structured and briary, with a mix of red and black fruit accented by licorice, dill and savory underbrush flavors. Finishes with medium-grained tannins. Zinfandel, Carignan, Petite Syrah, Alicante Bouschet and Mataro. Drink now through 2030. 8,900 cases made.VN9191 pts. - Vinous - May 2022 The 2020 Geyserville is quite soft in this vintage. Bright red-fleshed fruit, crushed flowers, cedar, spice and sweet pipe tobacco all grace this mid-weight edition of Geyserville. All things considered, the 2020 is nicely done.
VN94+94+ pts. - Vinous - Jan 2023 The 2021 Geyserville hits the palate with a burst of dark red/purplish fruit, sweet spice, lavender, chocolate, dried herbs and American oak. I would be in no rush to open the 2021, as it is clearly an infant at this stage. The blend is 76% Zinfandel, 16% Carignane, 6% Petite Syrah and 2% Alicante Bouschet. The 2021 is a powerhouse, that much is pretty clear. (Antonio Galloni)SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023 Tightly focused and briary, this blend offers density without weight. Presents plum and blueberry flavors accented by dill and green peppercorn as this builds tension toward medium-grained tannins. Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2032. 9,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)
