RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Aug 2019 The 2018 Morgon Bellevue Sable comes from younger vines, planted on Viala rootstock in sandy soils — as the “sable” newly added to its label makes clear. Revealing aromas of blackberries, smoked meats, cracked pepper and violets, it’s medium to full-bodied, ample and muscular, with powdery structuring tannin, juicy acids and a blockier, more reserved profile than the Chiroubles and Brouilly that preceded it. This will demand a couple of years’ patience before it shows all its cards.
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 The 2020 Morgon Bellevue Sable mingles aromas of cherries and wild plums with hints of violets and spices. Medium to full-bodied, sumptuous and satiny, with succulent acids and melting tannins, it’s charming and seamless, standing out as one of the most demonstrative, immediate wines in the range. (William Kelley)
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - May 2023 The 2021 Morgon Côte du Py, matured in used barrels, has a more complex bouquet than the Corcelette: a melange of red and black fruit, potpourri/lavender, and a faint hint of curry leaf that emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and a fine backbone considering the growing season. This is very fresh and saline with quite a strict finish. You could attempt this now though I would be intrigued to age this for another two or three years before broaching. (Neal Martin)
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 The 2021 Morgon Côte du Py is excellent, offering up aromas of cherries, plums and berries mingled with notions of peony, burning embers and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it’s seamless and succulent, with melting tannins, lively acids and a long, precise finish. After the richer, more powerful 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages, the 2021 marks a return to a more classically proportioned style, even if Burgaud did a great job of avoiding excess and maximizing the potential of those riper vintages. (William Kelley)
RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 The 2020 Morgon Château Gaillard derives from a one-hectare parcel of old massal selection vines located within the climat of Douby and in its first year of organic certification. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, plums and spices, it’s medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with ripe but youthfully chewy tannins and a long, sapid finish. It’s a fine addition to the domaine’s range of singularly age-worthy Morgon bottlings.
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 Bright and charming, the 2021 Morgon Corcelette bursts with aromas of plums, raspberries, rose petals, vine smoke and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with bright acids and melting tannins, it’s another of the more immediate, giving wines in the range. (William Kelley)
RP94+94+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 The 2020 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, spices, rose petals, loamy soil and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with impressive reserves of ripe tannin and sapid fruit, it’s seamless and lively, concluding with a long, resonant finish. As ever, this is built to age, and it will reward patience, even if its youthful charms are considerable.
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 Aromas of red berries, cherries, peonies and orange rind introduce the 2020 Morgon La Voûte Saint-Vincent, a medium to full-bodied, lively and succulent wine with a seamless, integrated profile. Beautifully balanced, it’s a charming, youthfully approachable cuvée emphasizing the climat of Douby.
JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, April 12, 2022 I love the expansive and expressive nose of wild blackberry with a touch of forest floor. Ripe, concentrated and fresh on the very focused palate. Very long finish with so much mineral freshness for the warm vintage. Excellent aging potential! Drink or hold.VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2021 Deep violet color. Displays candied red berry, smoky mineral, potpourri and star anise qualities on the incisive nose. Juicy and penetrating in the mouth, offering mineral-accented raspberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors and a hint of botanical herbs. Finishes spicy and very long, with lingering florality and harmonious tannins. (Josh Raynolds)
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 Bouland’s 2021 Morgon Bellevue Sable opens in the glass with scents of cherries, plums, peonies and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, supple and giving, the sandy soils (and younger vines) from which it derives naturally lend it a more open-knit profile. (William Kelley)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 One of the last cuvées to be bottled this year was the 2021 Morgon Pré Jourdan, an impressive effort redolent of raspberries, cherries, sweet spices, rose petals and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it’s layered and charming, with attractive balance and a long, expansive finish. (William Kelley)
