WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2022 This violet-scented Pinot Noir is marked by plump, mouth-drenching black-cherry and plum flavors edged by licks of sweet spice and vanilla. Framed by fine, glossy tannins and a juicy spine of acidity, this immediately welcoming wine is particularly joyous young but will likely hold well through 2027. (Anna Lee C. WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2022 Salty, mineral freshness extends from nose to finish in this ripe, broad-shouldered wine. Red-cherry and plum flavors are fleshy and concentrated on the palate, lifted by a tang of cranberry acidity and a pleasantly leafy, herbal finish. Soft in tannins and kissed with sweet spice, the wine is ready now but will likely to hold through 2029. (Anna Lee C. VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2022 The 2021 Chablis Au Dessus des Carrières comes from two parcels planted mainly in the seventies. Vibrant again on the nose, this offers enticing scents of yellow plum, flint and subtle petrichor scents that unfurl in the glass. The palate is well balanced with fine depth, perhaps a little more linear than the Vieilles Vignes with a very focused finish. Excellent. Chablis like a Swiss watch! (Neal Martin)
WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2022 Initially reductive notes of scorched earth and smoke in this wine dissipate with aeration, revealing pristine yellow apple and Mirabelle. Edged by a crush of oyster shells and salty mineral tones, this invigorating sip finishes on a whisper of white pepper. The wine is just starting to open now but should drink well through 2030. (Anna Lee C. Iijima)VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2022 The 2020 Chablis Vau de Vey 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with wild peach, light quince and flinty aromas, quite complex though I would not describe it as “intense”. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, harmonious, quite sappy towards the finish with decent length. Perhaps like the Butteaux, I would have liked a little more tension on the finish, but it should still give 8–10 years’ drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. (Neal Martin)
VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2022 The 2021 Chablis Sainte Claire was showing a little too much SO2 on the nose, although there seems to be decent fruit tucked behind. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, quite tensile and steely with a precise finish that deserves a round of applause. This is well-crafted. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. (Neal Martin)
VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2022 The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Marie-Antoinette comes mostly from Vergisson parcels on southerly-exposed vines, matured in stainless-steel on the fine lees for 12 months. It has a taut, minimal, steely bouquet that offers discrete saline/smoky scents. The palate is well balanced with grapefruit and touches of orange rind. Quite sapid with tropical hints towards the finish, though it is never an opulent Pouilly-Fuissé. It just expresses the warmth of the vintage. (Neal Martin)
VN89+89–91 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2022 The 2021 Chablis Village was picked as low as 20hl/ha in some parcels that were severely affected by frost. Nevertheless, it has a fresh and vibrant bouquet with fine mineralité and vivacity. “Classic Chablis” as Didier Picq tells me with what I am sure is a grin. The palate is fresh and taut, a fine saline undercurrent with a sharp and quite harmonious finish. You don’t find Chablis-Village much better than this in 2021. (Neal Martin)
RP92+92–94 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jan 2021 Once again one of the highlights of the range, the 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode (Domaine Louis Jadot) wafts from the glass with notes of cassis, plums, dark chocolate, loamy soil and spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it’s elegantly muscular, with fine depth and lively acids.VN90+90–92 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020 The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru was more closed than the Clos des Guettes on the nose, presenting darker fruit tinged with iodine and light iris petals. Fine delineation. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins, fine grip and edginess and a subtle white pepper and clove note toward the finish. This is a very well-crafted Savigny that should drink well for 10–15 years.
RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 20th Jan 2022 The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Vieilles Vignes represents another fine rendition of this remarkably consistent cuvée. Unfurling in the glass with notes of cherries, red berries, warm spices and sweet soil tones, it’s medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with powdery tannins and a long, sapid finish. Given its structure and substance, it will amply reward at least a few years’ patience. (William Kelley)
