RP94+94+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Oct 2018 Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Proprietary Red Blend Family Reserve Generations is intensely scented of warm black and red currants, Black Forest cake and blueberry compote with nuances of chocolate mint, new leather, tilled soil and fallen leaves. Full-bodied with a taut frame of grainy tannins supporting the densely packed black fruit layers, it has a long lingering minty kick on the finish.SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2020 Features a solid range blackberry paste, fig and plum notes, with cassis bush, bittersweet cocoa and licorice root accents. RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Oct 2020 Dark ruby with soft purple highlights, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon has an impactful and precise nose of juicy plum, dark cherry and blackberry essence that waft with elegant French oak tones of vanilla, cinnamon and cardamom. Medium to full-bodied, the wine has a succulent mouthfeel with oak flavors that bind effortlessly to juicy, plump and dark blackberry essence with subtle flavors of dried herbs and bitter dark chocolate. With a long, drawn-out finish, the wine displays all of its complexities as it lingers on the palate with persistence and a tannic grip. This wine is about layers and texture. Give it a try! (Anthony Mueller)WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2020 Fresh herb and flower aromas are out front, followed by notes of spice and plum. The palate is layered and restrained, with plenty of acidity and tannic structure supporting it all. It’s far from a big bruiser, but this is serious Cabernet, with impeccable balance. (Sean P. Sullivan)VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020 Full, dark red. Cool aromas of redcurrant, tobacco leaf, licorice, black pepper and menthol. Very suave and smooth on entry, then pure but reticent in the middle palate, conveying subtle salinity to the flavors of dark berries, soil, graphite and licorice. No easy sweetness here! This classically dry, Old World-style Cabernet is still a bit cool and laid-back but should evolve gracefully. Finishes with firm but fine-grained tannins and subtle savory grip. But not quite the depth for an even higher rating. (Stephen Tanzer)WS9191 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/20 For this wine, Greg Harrington and Brandon Moss blend fruit from sources such as Phinny Hill and Dionysus with grapes from their estate vineyards. All about structure at the moment, this is very firm with a tannic spine. It needs time to get beyond its initial notes of violets and sealing wax and reveal the dark fruit within. JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, July 14, 2021 Here is a red with a solid palate of red berries, crushed stone and fresh flowers. Full-bodied with beautifully crafted tannins that are soft and relaxed. The fruit character is complex with some fresh mushrooms and rose petals to the dark fruit. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but will be much better in two or three years. Drink after 2022. (James Suckling)RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Apr 2021 The Tenuta degli Dei 2017 Cavalli sees a base of Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot and is a terrific dinner wine. It is polished and deep with some of the fruit nuances you can expect of this vintage. However, the overall effect is balanced and smooth with plenty of fruity power, weight and length. Production is about 16,000 bottles. (Monica Larner)Premier SelectPremier Select wines are handpicked by our staff from amongst thousands of wines for their exceptional quality. JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, December 5, 2021 Perfumed cabernet with aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, raspberries, thyme, violets, crushed stones and cloves. Full-bodied with firm, grainy tannins. Structured and concentrated. Better after 2023.RP92+92–94 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Mar 2021 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it charges out of the gate with loads of blueberry preserves and stewed black plums notes on the nose with faint suggestions of redcurrant jelly and rose hip tea plus a waft of wild sage. Full-bodied and jam-packed with ripe black and blue fruit, it has a soft texture and perfumed finish. 10,000 cases are due to be made. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is polished, nuanced and so delicious. Silky and floral, with vibrant red-toned fruit, the Napa Valley Cabernet delivers the goods. It is a positively stellar wine from Amici. I loved it. (Antonio Galloni)JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/10/2022 Made with the goal of great Napa Cabernet at $50 bucks, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley succeeds admirably, offering gorgeous cassis, violet, and chocolaty aromatics as well as medium to full-bodied richness, a balanced, layered mouthfeel, and silky tannins. It competes with wines at three times the cost. The blend is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged 20 months in 75% new barrels. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, August 9, 2022 Attractive aromas of blue fruit with slate and black-licorice character. It’s full-bodied with juicy fruit and an orange-peel undertone. Wet earth, some fresh sage and rosemary, too. I like the Mediterranean flavors in this vintage. Drink or hold.RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 12th May 2022 A blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Ornellaia 2020 Le Volte dell’Ornellaia shows medium darkness and texture followed by a very primary and fruit-forward bouquet. There is a generous display of cherry, cassis and wild plum. On second nose, this easy and straightforward Tuscan blend reveals hints of spice, cardamon and polished river stone. In a hot vintage like this, the wine comes together nicely and rather effortlessly. (Monica Larner)SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2022 This balanced red is laced with black cherry, blackberry, violet and spice flavors. Concentrated and juicy, leaving a lining of dusty tannins on the long finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Drink now through 2028. 12,500 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 6/8/2022 The 2020 Le Volte Dell’Ornellaia is a juicy, forward blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese that’s aged in a mix of concrete and oak. It’s one heck of a delicious bistro wine and is loaded with ripe redcurrants, strawberry, tobacco, and cedary herb aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, this plump, round, mouth-filling beauty is ideal for near-term drinking. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP91+91–93 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 20th May 2021 The 2020 Olivier Blanc sings of fresh Bosc pears, yellow apples and waxed lemons, plus hints of wet slate and fennel seed. The medium-bodied palate is clean, crisp and wonderfully refreshing, offering bags of citrus and apple-inspired flavors with a spicy kick on the finish. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Sep 2015 The NV Franciacorta Brut is a delicious wine with a great level of energy and freshness. If you are looking for a classic expression of Italian sparkling wine from Franciacorta, this is your wine. It presents a tonic mouthfeel with steely effervescence and a clean, pristine finish. This is a fresh and lively sparkler that delivers great energy and personality. The blend is 80% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Nero and 10% Pinot Bianco.WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 8/1/2012 Chardonnay is the base of this creamy sparkler, with additions of Pinot Bianco and fragrant Pinot Nero. Together, these varieties produce a balanced and rich offering, with lingering aromas of nectarine, apricot, white almond and honey.SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2019 Sleek acidity defines flavors of white cherry and salted almond, with light herb and citrus details that ride the creamy bead in this lively Franciacorta. VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022 The 2019 Prieuré-Lichine is impeccable. Creamy, layered and resonant in the glass, the 2019 hits all the right notes. Sweet red cherry/plum, lavender, rose petal, spice, mint and blood orange all build effortlessly. Over the last handful of years Prieuré-Lichine has been the singe most under the radar wine in Margaux. The 2019 is another fine edition. Class, polish and sensuality make Prieuré-Lichine absolutely irresistible.JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, February 20, 2022 Wonderful aromas of dried orange, blackcurrant and crushed stone follow through to a full body with beautifully polished tannins that are composed and fine. Lots of subtle and complex character on the finish. Extremely well done here. Drink after 2025.RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 7th Apr 2022 The 2019 Prieuré-Lichine is supple and generous, bursting with aromas of blackberries, currants, licorice, spices and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, broad and fleshy, it’s round and enveloping, with ripe acids and a rich, seamless profile. This is showing well out of the gates. This heavily morcellated estate (amounting to some 125 different parcels) is clearly benefitting from a more rigorous selection and better attention to detail regarding harvest dates.SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2022 Presents lush plum and blackberry preserve flavors that gush through, flanked by a twinge of singed sandalwood to give it form. The finish is dotted by dark licorice, ganache and earth accents. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2034. 18,000 cases made.JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022 Readers looking for a complex, nuanced Margaux should check out the 2019 Château Prieuré-Lichine. Giving up a beautiful floral bouquet that includes red and blue fruits, sappy herbs, and flowery incense, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, plenty of mid-palate depth and sweet tannins, and a great finish. This complex, layered Margaux needs just 2–4 years of bottle age and should see its 20th birthday in fine form. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 8th Dec 2022 I can’t get enough of the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc O Sole Mio Two Wolves Vineyard from Paul Lato. It’s reminiscent of a Bordeaux Blanc with the aromatics turned way up: white peaches and kiwi are complemented by tones of acacia, fresh green herbs and beeswax. The medium-bodied palate is satiny and mouth coating with seamless acidity and generous flavor layers. It’s got the bass, mid and treble to drink well on its own or pair with a wide range of dishes at the table. This impressive Sauvignon Blanc was grown by Alecia Moore at Two Wolves in Santa Ynez from fruit planted in 2015. It was matured for eight months in concrete, stainless and neutral oak vessels, and 250 cases were made. (Erin Brooks)JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022 I love Paul’s Sauvignon Blanc, and his 2021 O Sole Mio Sauvignon Blanc Two Wolves Vineyard is a winner, offering a clean, crisp bouquet of white grapefruit, crushed citrus, white flowers, and honeyed minerality. Beautifully balanced, medium-bodied, and textured, with bright, vibrant acidity, it’s a brilliant effort that will be about as versatile as they come on the dinner table. I would drink bottles over the coming couple of years while the fruit is vibrant and fresh, yet I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see this have an interesting evolution over the coming decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2022 The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Wolves Vineyard O Sole Mio Two is quite dense and powerful. Lemon confit, dried flower, chamomile and spice are dialed up. Readers will find a serious Sauvignon Blanc that will drink best at the dinner table. Vinification and aging in concrete, where the lees remain in suspension, give the wine much of its textural depth. (Antonio Galloni)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Jul 2021 The regional blend 2020 Camins del Priorat, produced with grapes from 101 plots from eight villages in Priorat, is a blend of 55% Garnacha, 15% Syrah, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 8% Cariñena, higher in Garnacha and lower in Cariñena, like in the majority of 2019s. That gives the wines freshness and elegance, vivacity and fluidity. It fermented with the indigenous yeasts in a combination of stainless steel, oak and concrete vats and matured in barrel and oak vats for four months. This is more Priorat than any of the vintages of Camins; in reality, nobody is planting French varieties anymore and many are regrafting their vines, so in the future, the tendency could be toward more Garnacha and Cariñena in this wine. This is a very drinkable version of Camins, less dense than the 2019, from a year that was cooler with just an herbal hint. The mouthfeel is velvety with great freshness and very fine tannins. This has to be the finest Camins to date, different from previous years; it should be a commercial success. 226,000 bottles were produced. 2020 was their earliest harvest ever. (Luis Gutiérrez)
RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022 The 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett offers a discreet and sublime, complex and very elegant and slightly flinty nose with a coolish and very delicate expression of stewed apricots but also some greenish berries, whereas the first stony character remains. This irresistible and noble bouquet leads to a round and lush yet also refined and savory palate, with coolish apricot flavors on the long and sustainably salty finish that is firmly structured but elegant and highly stimulating. This is a superb, very elegant and complex, sustainably structured Sonnenuhr. This is already a great pleasure to drink, but you can keep this Kabinett for more than three decades easily. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 05 22 in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2018 The 2015 Teyssier is a fabulous introduction to Jonathan Maltus’s wines. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and dark spice, along with the wine’s natural lushness, give the Teyssier much of its immediacy and allure. Flamboyant an inviting, with impeccable balance, the 2015 has so much to offer, including a very appealing proposition of price and availability. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Apr 2018 Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Teyssier (a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc) gives up lovely black and red cherries notions with cinnamon stick, fragrant earth and potpourri nuances. Medium-bodied and fresh with a satiny texture, it’s earthy and elegant in the mouth with a perfumed finish. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
JD91+91–93 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - August 16, 2019 Moving to the reds and starting with the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape (a blend of 75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 9% Mourvèdre, and the balance Cinsault, Terret Noir, Muscardin, and other permitted varieties), this wine has a terrific sense of purity and elegance in its black and blue fruits, sappy flowers, and peppery garrigue aromas and flavors. These carry to a medium-bodied, finesse-oriented wine that has beautiful tannins, no hard edges, and outstanding length. This is a classic, traditional cuvée done brilliantly. While it has the upfront style of the vintage front and center, it’s still going to evolve beautifully on its balance and purity. (Jeb Dunnuck)RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 24th Sep 2020 Decadently ripe, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape combines hints of garrigue, raspberries, black cherries and dark chocolate on the nose. In the mouth, it’s full-bodied, plush and creamy textured without coming across as heavy, finishing supple and long. While some may find it over the top, for me, it retains a sense of balance in the tension between the sense of ripeness and its delicate herbal nuances. It won’t be terribly long-lived but should drink at its delicious best over the next 6–8 years.VN90+90–93 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2019 Limpid ruby-red. Spice-accented red berry and cherry aromas are complemented by building floral and mineral nuances. Alluringly sweet and seamless in the mouth, offering lively black raspberry, cherry liqueur, licorice and baking spice flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes supple and long, with lingering floral and spice notes and subtle tannins that lend shape and gentle grip.
RP92+92–94 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Mar 2022 The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a barrel sample of free-run Cabernet Sauvignon (75%) and Petit Verdot (25%), matured for 16 months in 50% new oak. Still youthfully coiled, it hints at blueberry fruit with swirls of graphite, soy sauce and exotic spices. The medium-bodied palate is velvety in texture, savory in character and finishes with uplifting acidity. This is due to be bottled in May 2022. (Erin Brooks)
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022 Limpid orange. A sharply focused, mineral-accented bouquet evokes fresh red berries and pit fruits, citrus pith and pungent flowers. Silky and penetrating on the palate, offering tangy redcurrant, pomegranate and blood orange flavors and a hint of honeysuckle. The floral note builds steadily through an impressively long, nervy finish that echoes the citrus and mineral notes. (Josh Raynolds)RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th Aug 2022 Call it a down year if you must, but the 2021 Cotes de Provence Rose Chateau de Selle remains one of the region’s top wines. Scents of tangerine, peach, crushed stone and lime zest mark the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is plump and juicy, finishing long and layered. The assemblage this year is 55% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah. (Joe Czerwinski)
