WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2022 The Port, with its luscious texture and black fruits, is impressive and dense. Black fruits are given richness and spice by the spirit and the raisin flavors. With its light structure, it is ready to drink. (Roger Voss)SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2022 Inviting, with plum cake and steeped raisin and plum notes laced with licorice snap and fruitcake accents. There’s a solid spine for support, but this is approachable now. Try decanting or even giving a touch more time in the cellar. Drink now through 2026. 50,000 cases made, 25,000 cases imported. (James Molesworth)WS9191 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 10/22 A fresh, schist-driven LBV, this wine’s tannins are accommodating in their softness, but still buzzing with mineral tension and energy. The cherry fruit coasts past the tannins, sweet and pleasing with the acidity of sheep’s milk cheeses.RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022 The 2017 Late Bottled Vintage Port is a field blend bottled in 2022 with a bar-top cork and 113 grams per liter of residual sugar after six years in cask. (There will be no 2016 Graham’s LBV.) Elegant in the mid-palate (unlike its sibling, the Dow’s), this also has good structure, but it is a much better balanced wine. The big fruit of this fine vintage shines through, rendering this rather delicious. This has persistence and focus, plus all that tasty fruit. You can’t go wrong. (Mark Squires)
WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2014 Rich, fruity and enticing, this sweet vermouth is warmed with notes of fig and dried cherries, and just faint hints of spiced gingerbread and bitter orange peel. Drinkable solo as an apéritif, or use it as a cocktail-mixing favorite.
RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Oct 2004 The light amber-hued, unctuously-textured non-vintage The Tokay reveals a similar flavor profile to the Muscat, with perhaps more balsamic, maple syrup, and Asian spice-like characteristics. It is quite spectacular, and very sweet.SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2005 Sweet, but it stops short of syrupy, with a lovely caramel and brewed tea quality that lingers, along with a touch of pineapple and floral notes. Drink now.
WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2022 Long maturation in the bottle after wood aging has given this wine great quality and style. It has a dry edge that is typical of Warre’s, along with mature dried fruit and spice flavors. The wine is fine; it’s ready to drink now. (Roger Voss)
WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2019 Berry-hued and bright, this is a champ for cocktail mixing and pleasing to sip straight. Red fruit leads the nose and palate, suggesting juicy raspberry and ripe cherry, enlivened by a hint of rosewater and finishing slightly drying and mildly bitter. Think of this as a refreshing alternative to sweet vermouth.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2023 Fresh and open, with a set of crushed plum and steeped cherry flavors backed by Black Forest cake and licorice accents on the polished finish. Drink now through 2025. 15,000 cases made, 6,500 cases imported. (James Molesworth)
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2013 Offers layers of macerated date, ganache, warm caraway, buckwheat honey and chocolate-covered orange peel notes, with a deep, intense finish that lets a wonderfully smoky hint curl through. The power is obvious, the range and definition more subtle. Drink now. 2,500 cases made.WS9292 pts. - Wine & Spirits - June 1, 2011 You can drink this wine at the end of a meal just for the pleasure of feeling its exuberant complexity and sweetness. But you can also add a couple drops to your vanilla ice cream and enjoy the way this PX dissolves its pecan pie and candied almond flavors in the chill of the vanilla. An ample wine, this has the texture of chocolate seconds before melting.
WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2019 Concentrated dark fruit leads the nose and palate on this garnet-hued aperitif wine infused with quinine. Complex, rich stewed fruit notes suggest cherry pie and Port brushed with vanilla, finishing long with drying hints of plum skin, sage and dried oregano plus a hint of espresso-like bitterness.
