VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022 The 2019 Poitevin has a perfumed, floral bouquet with more red fruit than I observed from barrel, showing fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very cohesive and harmonious. There’s just a touch of graphite on the finish. Stylish, top-notch Poitevin. (Neal Martin)RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2022 The 2019 Poitevin is performing better than it did when I tasted it earlier this year, when I suspect it was still shut down after bottling. Opening in the glass with attractive aromas of orange zest, sweet red berries, petals and spices, it’s medium-bodied, lively and elegant, with lovely purity of fruit and nicely integrated structure. (William Kelley)JS8989 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, February 20, 2022 Ripe blackberries, crushed raspberries, dried thyme and mocha on the nose. Medium body with lightly chewy tannins. Firm and compact with savory tea-leaf character. Drink from 2023.Premier SelectPremier Select wines are handpicked by our staff from amongst thousands of wines for their exceptional quality. RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th May 2022 Mainly Grenache, with the balance a blend of Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2019 Cotes du Rhone offers up notions of ripe cherries, garrigue and even a few modest hints of pine sap. Medium to full-bodied, it’s concentrated and ripe yet silky and reasonably elegant. Drink it over the next several years.
JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, May 3, 2022 Notes of blackberries, dark cherries, blackcurrants and baking spices. Medium body with creamy tannins. Round and juicy with lots of fruit and a ripe, chocolatey finish. Drink now.RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2022 The 2021 Malbec offers varietal and regional typicity at a very affordable price. There are violets, berries and a touch of sweet spices with a juicy and round palate with almost unnoticeable tannins. (Luis Gutiérrez)
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022 The certified organic red 2020 Cune Organic is aromatic, expressive and fruit-driven but with depth and complexity. They liked the Garnacha in 2020, which represents no less than 60% of the blend, complemented by 30% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano. The wine is fresh and has a profile similar to the young and juicy Crianza, with good ripeness and a solid palate. It matured in second use 300-liter oak barrels for six months. Urrutia mentioned cheerful and barbecue when talking about this wine. Very good at that. 40,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022. (Luis Gutiérrez)VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2021 Deep, lurid ruby. Ripe black and blue fruits, candied flowers and a hint of licorice on the perfumed nose. Sappy and velvety in texture, offering bitter cherry and blueberry flavors that turn sweeter with air. Finishes long and smooth, with repeating spiciness, a hint of cola and round, even tannins. (Josh Raynolds)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Oct 2020 They are convinced at the winery that the 2015 Señorío de P. Peciña Crianza is the best Crianza they have ever produced, which is often the case with the current vintage for sale... But I must admit that the wine was very impressively balanced, nuanced and complex. It has freshness and is approachable enough while showing Rioja character and integrated oak to appeal to a wide audience. It’s ripe without excess, coming through as juicy and tasty. It spent two years in used American oak barrels. 100,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2019. (Luis Gutiérrez)VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2021 Bright ruby. Lively, smoke- and spice-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas are complemented by floral, vanilla and pipe tobacco flourishes. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering vibrant red and blue fruit flavors that deepen and turn spicier with air. Shows very good energy and appealing florality on a very long, penetrating finish shaped by well-judged tannins. (Josh Raynolds)
WS8989 pts. - Wine & Spirits - August 1, 2013 One of the most reliable Cavas at the price, this offers cool, crisp cider apple flavors along with leesy notes of toast, nuts and flowers. It’s gentle and clean, fuel for a dance party.SP8686 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2013 Fresh and balanced, with a creamy bead supporting apple puree, pastry cream, anise and preserved lemon notes. Drink now. 75,570 cases imported.WE8686 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2013 Standard lemon-lime aromas open this quaffable Cava. In the mouth, it’s creamy and soft but not mushy, with candied mango, papaya and vanilla flavors that finish sweet.RP8585 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st May 2011 Segura Viudas’ entry level Cava, the Non-Vintage Brut Reserva offers up a pleasant perfume of yeast notes, biscuit, and green apple. It is a straightforward, lively, slightly off-dry bubbly that is a good value for drinking over the next 12–18 months.
RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022 The NV OVR Lot 73 is composed mainly of Zinfandel with smaller portions of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Carignan and Barbera. Medium ruby, it offers intense red cherry, blood orange and apricot perfume with accents of rooibos tea leaves, red licorice, saline, lilac and loads of spicy nuances. The medium-bodied palate is light on its feet with soft tannins, bursts of refreshing acidity and detailed amaro accents on the long finish. This is so easy to drink! (Erin Brooks)JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, October 5, 2022 Lovely aromas of pitted red cherries, black cherries, moss and walnut. Medium-to full-bodied with gentle tannins. Nice intensity with lovely length. Juicy, with so much herbal complexity and black fruit. Predominantly zinfandel, with syrah, petite sirah, grenache, barbera, carignan. Drink now.SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2023 Tastes like the gutsy field blends popularized by Italian immigrants back in the day, with potent wild berry, licorice and smoky cracked pepper flavors that finish with broad-shouldered tannins. Zinfandel. Drink now through 2029. 16,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)
RP88+88–90 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 12th Dec 2020 Plums, black cherries and hints of garrigue mark the nose of the 2019 Cotes du Rhone les 3 Soeurs, a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. It’s medium to full-bodied, with soft masses of ripe tannin that impart a plush mouthfeel and linger easily on the finish. As always with this cuvée, I’d opt for drinking it on the young side.
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Oct 2021 Pale in color, the NV Saumur Brut Rosé Corail is a pure Cabernet Franc with a very light pink color and a delicate nose that intermingles red fruit aromas with floral notes. Aged on the lees for at least nine months, this is a supple, round and harmonious sparkling wine with intense, well-structured fruit and texture, and it has a long and aromatic finish. The mousse is very delicate and gentle. This is a very charming Brut from Saumur. Tasted in June 2021.
RP91+91+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th May 2020 The youthful, flashy exuberance of this wine is impossible to miss. The Tua Rita 2019 Rosso dei Notri offers pronounced primary fruit that bursts out of the glass with immediate directness and frankness. This is a blend of 30% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 20% Merlot. Although it’s not declared, there’s a tiny touch of Cabernet Franc in there as well that grounds the wine with an extra point of darkness and richness. Most of the blending components do not see oak, but those that do (like the Merlot) go through a brief three months in declassified barrique (hand-downs from Tua Rita’s top wines). This estate practices a clever pre-harvest harvest. Some of the fruit from across the various parcels is harvested about 10 days earlier. That fruit, with its extra freshness and acidic brightness, goes into this wine. Indeed, some 150,000 bottles are produced, so this is the bread-and-butter bottle from the estate. The best clusters are left on the vines to mature fully before the second harvest, and that fruit goes into Tua Rita’s benchmarks. Doing two harvests in this manner preserves the character of the best fruit on the one hand and creates this entry-level offering on the other. This easy red is a great match to a platter of Italian salumi and cheeses. This wine will be released in June 2020, and it offers terrific value.
JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, January 3, 2022 Blackberries, ripe cherries, chili chocolate, cedar, walnuts and charcoal on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with supple tannins and fresh acidity. Polished, silky and creamy finish. Pretty cabernet. Drink now or hold.RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Aug 2021 I find the 2019 Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon to be quite subtle and elegant, with clear Maipo profile, a little minty and spicy. Like the majority of varietal wines, it also contains small amounts of other grapes, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petit Verdot in this case. It’s medium to full-bodied and reveals very good balance and freshness. 900,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2021. (Luis Gutiérrez)
JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, May 3, 2022 Dark plums, blackberries, blackcurrants, tar, graphite and cloves on the nose. Some praline and chocolate. It’s medium-bodied with rounded tannins. Creamy and dark-fruited. Drink or hold.RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2022 The varietal 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon has textbook aromas and flavors of blackberries, herbs and spices combined in a neat way. It’s medium-bodied, balanced and fresh, with a serious, dry finish. (Luis Gutiérrez)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, November 2, 2020 A red with blackberry and plum aromas and flavors and orange-peel undertones. It’s full-bodied with ripe tannins and a flavorful finish. Give it a year or two to soften and come together. Drink after 2021.RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Jun 2021 The organic entry-level 2018 Flor de Vetus is Tinta de Toro from vines around the winery next to VIllabuena del Puente planted in 1999 and certified organic in 2018. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in oak barrels for 11 months. It has contained ripeness and moderate alcohol and acidity, reflecting a cooler year with a long and slow ripening of the grapes. It’s sleek, polished and very balanced, with unusual elegance for the region. 124,027 bottles and 100 magnums produced. It was bottled in May 2020.
WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2021 Dusty shards of granite, lavender and sun-kissed mulberries perfume this wine from Alain Jaume. It’s an approachable, fruity blend of Grenache (60%), Syrah (30%) and Cinsault (10%) cut by a revitalizing strike of acidity and a lingering stony finish. Best enjoyed now–2024.JD8989 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 10/6/2020 Mostly Grenache blended with roughly 30% Syrah, brought up all in tank, the 2019 Côtes Du Rhône Haut De Brun is another terrific release from this estate that delivers loads of pleasure for not much buck. Impressive red and black fruits, notes of peppery garrigue, and earth, medium-bodied richness, and a juicy, gulpable style all make for a seriously good Côtes du Rhône to enjoy over the coming 3–5 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 24th Sep 2020 The 2019 Cotes du Rhone Haut de Brun comes across as slightly darker and more concentrated than the 2018, showing hints of blueberries and black cherries mixing in with the raspberries and cherries. It’s medium to full-bodied, shows some soft, velvety tannins, and displays admirable purity on the finish.
JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - November 1, 2018 A little gem of a wine is the 2017 Côtes Catalanes Roubials from Saint Roch, which is mostly Grenache mixed with 10% Mourvèdre, brought up in 20% new barrels. It has loads of fresh blackberry and blueberry fruits intermixed with plenty of violets, leafy herbs, and charcoal aromas and flavors. Drink this medium-bodied, pure, seamless beauty over the coming 5–7 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Apr 2019 Mainly Grenache, the 2017 Roubials is another fine example of the good work being done at this property. Black cherries dominate the nose, while the palate is slightly earthier. Full-bodied, dense and tannic, it could use another year in the bottle to loosen up, but the tannins are soft, so there’s no real need to defer gratification.
