Citrus peel, mint, white pepper, chalk and dried flowers open nicely with a bit of time. There’s terrific energy and plenty of cut. Most of this fruit is sourced from the own-rooted vines first planted in 1971. (Matt Kettmann)JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022 The 2020 Chardonnay Katherine’s Vineyard is terrific and shockingly good given the quantities produced. Burgundian-like aromas of stone fruits, chalky minerality, honeyed flowers, and brioche all define the nose, and it’s medium-bodied, with a supple, rounded texture, integrated acidity, and a great finish. (Jeb Dunnuck)
SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2022 Ripe and decadently spiced, with concentrated kirsch, dark plum and cola flavors that are well-knit. The plush, creamy finish packs Asian spice notes. (Kim Marcus)WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2022 This is an extremely ripe and bold style of Pinot Noir, showing kirsch, cola, root beer and anise on the nose. The powerful extraction extends to the sip as well, where black cherry, pie crust and vanilla bean flavors sit atop a thick mouthfeel, with a touch of prune on the finish. (Matt Kettmann)
WE8888 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2023 Pleasant though very oak-driven aromas of black cherry cream and brown spice show on the nose of this bottling. Soft tannins warp around more dark cherry and oak flavors on the palate. (Matt Kettmann)

JD92+92–94 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022 The only barrel sample I was able to taste, the 2021 GSM Santa Barbara County showed beautifully, and if this wine is any indication, this estate didn’t miss a beat in 2021. Giving up pretty blue fruits, peppery herbs, and sappy flower nuances, it’s medium to full-bodied, has terrific tannins, and an elegant yet textured style that will drink nicely right out of the gate. (Jeb Dunnuck)SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023 Plush and savory, with sleek raspberry, orange-tinged mocha and smoked pepper flavors that build richness and structure toward refined tannins. Deep and beautifully layered in the glass, with terrific vibrancy, the GSM is marked by gorgeous purity in its red/purplish fruit and terrific balance. It is the only 2021 that had been racked at the time of my visit, but also a wine that portends well for the vintage if its representative of quality across the range. (Antonio Galloni)
