JS90+90–91 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, June 2, 2022 A nicely polished and relatively soft red with ripe tannins and purple fruit. It’s medium-bodied. Fresh at the end. Nicely done.JD87+87–89 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 6/4/2021 The 2020 Château Talmont is another solid Bordeaux offering medium to full-bodied richness as well as impressive cassis and black raspberry fruits intermixed with hints of flowers, violets, and graphite. It has some grippy tannins, but I like the overall balance as well as the length on the finish. (Jeb Dunnuck)VN86+86–88 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2021 The 2020 Talmont offers good up-front intensity in its jammy dark fruit, chocolate and dried herbs. There is good depth and persistence, but hard tannins and slight vegetal undertones are a bit distracting today. (Antonio Galloni)Premier SelectPremier Select wines are handpicked by our staff from amongst thousands of wines for their exceptional quality. RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022 The certified organic red 2020 Cune Organic is aromatic, expressive and fruit-driven but with depth and complexity. They liked the Garnacha in 2020, which represents no less than 60% of the blend, complemented by 30% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano. The wine is fresh and has a profile similar to the young and juicy Crianza, with good ripeness and a solid palate. It matured in second use 300-liter oak barrels for six months. Urrutia mentioned cheerful and barbecue when talking about this wine. Very good at that. 40,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022. (Luis Gutiérrez)VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2021 Deep, lurid ruby. Ripe black and blue fruits, candied flowers and a hint of licorice on the perfumed nose. Sappy and velvety in texture, offering bitter cherry and blueberry flavors that turn sweeter with air. Finishes long and smooth, with repeating spiciness, a hint of cola and round, even tannins. (Josh Raynolds)
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2022 The 2020 Malbec Chakana Estate Selection (from Paraje Altamira & Gualtallary, Uco Valley) was a third aged in used barrels and a third in foudres. A mild purple hue. The nose presents gentle notes of fresh plum, violets and hints of thyme over a pleasant bed of oak. Indulgent with slightly reactive tannins, the flow is juicy and fairly compact. (Joaquín Hidalgo)
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2021 The 2020 Saint-Bris Exogyra Virgula, which was taken from tank, has a light apple blossom bouquet with a lovely lemon thyme scent. The palate is fresh, vibrant and very saline, delivering good density and flavors of green apple mixed with pear toward the finish. Superb. (Neal Martin)
WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2022 Initially reductive notes of scorched earth and smoke in this wine dissipate with aeration, revealing pristine yellow apple and Mirabelle. Edged by a crush of oyster shells and salty mineral tones, this invigorating sip finishes on a whisper of white pepper. The wine is just starting to open now but should drink well through 2030. (Anna Lee C. Iijima)VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2022 The 2020 Chablis Vau de Vey 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with wild peach, light quince and flinty aromas, quite complex though I would not describe it as “intense”. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, harmonious, quite sappy towards the finish with decent length. Perhaps like the Butteaux, I would have liked a little more tension on the finish, but it should still give 8–10 years’ drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. (Neal Martin)
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2022 Deeply structured and briary, with a mix of red and black fruit accented by licorice, dill and savory underbrush flavors. Finishes with medium-grained tannins. Zinfandel, Carignan, Petite Syrah, Alicante Bouschet and Mataro. Drink now through 2030. 8,900 cases made.VN9191 pts. - Vinous - May 2022 The 2020 Geyserville is quite soft in this vintage. Bright red-fleshed fruit, crushed flowers, cedar, spice and sweet pipe tobacco all grace this mid-weight edition of Geyserville. All things considered, the 2020 is nicely done.
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 4, 2022 Black-cherry and orange-peel aromas and flavors. Some lead pencil and slate, too. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and firm acidity, which adds verve and tension to the wine. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022 The 2020 Chianti Classico is bright, elegant, and wonderfully translucent, with lovely red fruit character and all the elegance of Radda coming through nicely. Mint, blood orange, pipe tobacco, and spice linger on the brilliant, delineated finish. (Antonio Galloni)
RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2022 The red 2020 Malbec Clásico was produced with 80% grapes from Luján de Cuyo and 20% grapes from Valle de Uco, mostly their own grapes, all in stainless steel and vinified by plot with their native yeasts. It matured in concrete for nine months. It’s ripe without excess and develops a full array of aromas and flavors but keeping 13.5% alcohol, very fresh for the warm year. It’s juicy, complex beyond fruit, a little herbal, medium-bodied and with very fine tannins. It’s clean, expressive and open, a wine that has to be approachable from when you pull the cork. They are working to increase the drinkability, which will be seen more and more in the following years. This represents the largest part of their production with some 500,000 bottles. There are different bottlings. (Luis Gutiérrez)VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2022 The 2020 Malbec Clásico is 75% from Luján de Cuyo and 25% from the Uco Valley. A mild purple hue. Considering the year, the nose presents notes of quite fresh plum with hints of herbs, syrup and floral aromas. In the mouth, it has good volume, firm, grippy tannins and an expansive flow before the ripe finish. (Joaquín Hidalgo)JS9090 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, May 3, 2022 Nice sour cherries with a streak of white pepper and violets. Medium-bodied, but fleshy. Ripe, almost creamy tannins extend to the finish, but are still juicy and vibrant. Not complex, but so balanced and easy to drink. Drink now.
Grand Cru Classé de Graves 2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58687
WE93+93–95 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 1/1/2022 Barrel Sample. Crisp and tight with fine citrus flavors, the wine is beautifully proportioned with textured, zesty acidity. It shows balance between its structure and its fruits that will only get better as it matures. (Roger Voss)JS93+93–94 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, May 27, 2021 An excellent white Carbonnieux with sliced-lemon, lime and mineral character, as well as hints of citrus seeds. It’s medium-to full-bodied with lots of bright acidity and a flavorful finish. Minerally at the end.SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023 Fresh and breezy, with a fleur de sel edge that adds nice energy to the core of gooseberry, white peach and lemon gelée. Presents a pretty quinine echo through the finish. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2026. 15,000 cases made, 3,500 cases imported. (James Molesworth)VN90+90–92 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2021 The 2020 Carbonnieux Blanc is a very pretty wine. Bright Sauvignon Blanc notes give the 2020 its distinctive aromatic signatures, while the Sémillon adds just enough mid-palate creaminess to hold it all together. Lemon confit, white flowers, sage, mint and tomato leaf linger nicely. (Antonio Galloni)
WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022 Cabernet Sauvignon plus a small percentage of Merlot and Syrah adds up to a big “bang for the buck” experience. Black-cherry, dark-chocolate and orange aromas are flanked by wee bits of well-worn leather and roasted red bell pepper. The wine has grippy tannins and soft acidity to match up with gobs of blackcap-raspberry and blueberry flavors. Little touches of cedar and mocha powder add interest. (Michael Alberty)WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/22 Dark and woolly with black-cherry and tobacco flavors and modest wood notes, this is generous and complex for its price.
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022 The 2020 Bolgheri Rosso is an absolutely gorgeous wine that overdelivers in its peer group. Silky, layered and light on its feet, the Rosso is superb. Hints of blueberry, menthol, licorice, pine and cinnamon all grace this attractive, stylish offering. (Antonio Galloni)
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022 Although not labeled as such, Beringer’s Private Reserve Chardonnay has been sourced for decades from the Gamble Ranch in Oakville. Planted around 1976 to Clone 4, the grapes are picked ripe and barrel fermented at relatively warm temperatures to build mouthfeel. The 2020 Chardonnay Private Reserve (along with all the other white varieties) was picked prior to any risk of smoke taint. Marked by scents of mango, guava and pineapple, it doesn’t come across as that oaky, despite being barrel fermented and aged in approximately 80% new French oak. It’s full-bodied and slightly buttery, with an appealing custardy richness and a long finish. (Joe Czerwinski)SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2022 Peach, apricot and mango flavors are juicy and fleshy at the core of this white, with honeyed overtones. Salted butter, spice and toasted pastry notes emerge on the finish, as does a touch of dried ginger. Drink now. 8,714 cases made. (MaryAnn Worobiec)VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022 The 2020 Chardonnay Private Reserve is creamy, open-knit and expressive. Lemon confit, spice, vanillin and light tropical notes all grace the 2020. As always, the Private Reserve is done in a richer, creamier style than the Luminus Chardonnay. That approach worked well in 2020. (Antonio Galloni)
Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2020 / 750 ml. | Item#60548
JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/29/2023 The 2020 Château Tour Saint Christophe showed spectacularly well, and based off past vintages, this shouldn’t surprise anyone. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc raised in 40% new barrels (the balance is in second- and third-fill oak), it offers a full-bodied, incredibly pure, balanced style revealing subtle oak, terrific darker, almost blue fruits, lots of chocolate, leafy herb and mineral nuances, and gorgeous tannins. It’s worth pointing out that this will be the last vintage made by the talented Jérôme Aguirre. This terrific Saint-Emilion will evolve for two decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, May 14, 2023 So much black fruit, black walnuts, blueberries, wet earth, black truffles and some graphite. Medium to full body with lots of tension and focus. It runs very long with a salty undertone and some bitter, burnt lemon. Yet ever so subtle and refined. Drink after 2027. (James Suckling)RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 6th Apr 2023 The 2020 Tour Saint Christophe opens in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries and petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and pure palate that’s rich and fleshy, with generously extracted tannins asserting themselves on the finish. It’s a modern, crowd-pleasing wine from clay-rich soils opposite Troplong Mondot in the commune Saint Christophe des Bardes. (William Kelley)VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023 The 2020 Tour Saint Christophe has grown into an elegant, sophisticated Saint-Émilion. Red/purplish berry fruit, hard candy, mint, blood orange, pomegranate and spice all run through the 2020. Medium in body and polished, the 2020 has maybe a bit less explosive intensity than recent previous years, but plenty of class. Today, I find Tour Saint Christophe a bit subdued. (Antonio Galloni)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, May 3, 2022 Nimble blackberries and sweet blueberries, minerals, graphite and black chocolate on the nose. This is a beautifully poised red with a linear, medium-bodied palate. Polished and driven. Delicious now. Drink or hold.
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Mar 2022 Deep ruby-purple, the 2020 Pessimist is a blend of 62% Petite Sirah, 18% Syrah, 18% Zinfandel and 2% Lagrein, matured for 10 months in 60% new French oak. It’s scented of black cherries with touches of purple flowers, graphite and grilled meats, and the medium-bodied palate is grainy and fresh with a long, perfumed finish. This offers fantastic quality for the price. (Erin Brooks)JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/30/2021 Always a Petite Sirah-dominated wine, the 2020 Pessimist sports an inky purple color as well as a great, full-bodied style carrying wonderful blue fruits, spring flowers, spice, and vanilla aromas and flavors. It’s textured, has ripe tannins, loads of fruit, and is about as sexy and gulpable as they come. It’s one heck of a steakhouse red to enjoy over the coming 2–4 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022 Dark purple. Oak-spiced black and blue fruit, mocha and floral qualities on the nose. Broad and supple in texture, offering pliant blackberry, kirsch, vanilla and salty olive flavors that deepen steadily through the midpalate. Finishes long, smooth and spicy, with even tannins and resonating smokiness. 50% new French oak. (Josh Raynolds)
