RP92+92+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020 The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it strides confidently out of the glass with notes of crushed blueberries, ripe, fresh blackberries and warm cassis plus hints of bay leaves, mossy tree bark and lavender. The medium-bodied palate is chock-full of crunchy black fruits, framed by ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long with loads of mineral sparks. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021 The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is an attractive, mid-weight wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Dried cherry, tobacco, licorice, cedar and earthy notes all grace this expressive, understated Cabernet from Grgich Hills. (Antonio Galloni)
WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2020 On the southern slopes of the Entre-deux-Mers, this vineyard surrounds a grand 19th-century chateau. This organic wine offers rich tannins and powerful black fruits. Its structure will soften and the wine will be ready from 2021.
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023 The 2018 Nobile di Montepulciano is pretty and understated in the glass, wafting up with a mix of black currants, savory herbs and worn leather hints. This is round with a balanced inner sweetness, displaying mineral-tinged wild berry fruit and nuances of confectionary spice. The 2018 leaves only a gentle coating of fine tannins while finishing with citrus nuances and a hint of hard red candies. The Avignonesi style lent quite well to this warm and rainy vintage; as a result, they created a very delicate yet likable Nobile. (Eric Guido)
Cotes du Rhône Villages 2018 / 750 ml. | Item#53782
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 12th Nov 2020 An oak-aged blend of Grenache and Syrah, the 2018 Cotes du Rhone Villages Sainte Cecile Gabrielle boasts ample notes of bay leaf, thyme and sage on the nose, backed by ripe cherries and hints of mocha. It’s a medium to full-bodied, velvety-textured wine that drinks well now and should continue to do so for another 4–5 years.
JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 27, 2021 Moving to the two reds, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is brilliant all the way, offering a smorgasbord-like bouquet of blueberries, raspberries, spring flowers, cured meats, tobacco, and assorted other spicy, floral nuances. I always find a subtle red fruit and mineral character in top Stags Leap Cabernet, and this beauty has it in spades. Full-bodied on the palate, this pure, plush, sexy Napa Valley Cabernet has sweet tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. Seemingly all about sweet fruit and texture, it’s nevertheless going to evolve for 20–25 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021 The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a powerhouse. It needs time to come together, as the elements are a bit disjointed, but there is a ton of potential, that much is clear. Dark blue/purplish berry fruit, spice, lavender, chocolate and white flowers abound. I would prefer to cellar the 2018 for a few years to allow the tannins to soften.RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020 Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate bursts from the glass, offering vibrant notes of blackberry pie, plum preserves and black and red currant jelly with nuances of bay leaves, tar and licorice plus a waft of cinnamon stick. The full-bodied palate is jam-packed with juicy black fruits, supported by approachable, grainy tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long with an herbal lift.
RP91+91–93 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2019 Another top-notch vintage for this property, the 2018 Lirac Domaine du Clos de Sixte looks as if it may rival the 2016. It’s 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre, aging in concrete (70%) and barrels (30%). Floral notions mark the nose, while flavors of raspberries and apricots appear on the full-bodied palate. This seems creamy-supple at first, with steadily building tannins on the lengthy finish. (Joe Czerwinski)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Oct 2020 The raspberry and garrigue-scented 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Miocene has turned out as well I hoped after last year’s visit. Medium to full-bodied, it’s tightened up a bit and shows more dusty tannin on the finish than I recall, but that should just serve to extend its drinking window through at at least 2030.VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021 Vivid ruby. Fragrant cherry and red berry scents pick up suggestions of licorice and lavender with aeration. Spicy, concentrated and smooth on the palate, offering appealingly sweet raspberry, cherry liqueur and floral pastille flavors and a hint of succulent herbs. Finishes sweet and quite long, with velvety tannins framing lingering cherry and floral notes.JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - October 6, 2020 The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Miocène can be thought of as the entry-level Châteauneuf from this estate and is a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre brought up in a mix of tank and neutral, older barrels. Impressive notes of mulled black cherries, darker currants, chocolaty herbs, and pepper all emerge from the glass and this medium to full-bodied 2018 has a great mid-palate, ample depth and richness, and sweet tannins. It’s beautifully done and just about seamless on the palate, with the forward, already delicious style of the vintage front and center. enjoy bottles anytime over the coming decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - October 6, 2020 Coming from a cooler, windy appellation, the 2018 Côtes Du Rhône Villages Valréas starts out with a darker, slightly earthy bouquet of red and blue fruits, damp forest floor, peppery herbs, and spring flowers that picks up more and more fruit with time in the glass. It shows more sweetness (ripe fruit, not sugar) and elegance on the palate and has good acidity, a balanced, light texture, silky tannins, and a great finish. It needs a good splash decant if drinking anytime soon and is a complex, nuanced, interesting Côtes du Rhône that should keep nicely for 5–6 years or more. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JD91+91–93 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/26/2019 Black raspberries, cassis, spice, and Provençal garrigue and meaty notes all emerge from the 2018 Rasteau Marc. A blend of 50% Grenache and 25% each of Mourvèdre and Syrah, brought up in demi-muids, it’s medium to full-bodied and nicely textured, with beautiful purity and a distinct sense of elegance paired with richness. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2021 The 2018 Balifico, Volpaia’s Sangiovese/ Cabernet Sauvignon blend, is fabulous. Rich and inky, the 2018 offers up a compelling mélange of dark berry fruit, dark spice, licorice and espresso. I especially admire the wine’s textural richness. I imagine the 2018 will drink well for many, many years to come. In this tasting it is a total knock-out.SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2021 Alluring violet, black currant and black cherry fruit introduces this seductive red, with firm, pointed tannins and vivid acidity providing structure as this glides to a lingering, detailed finish. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2037. 750 cases made, 200 cases imported.
