Pinot Grigio may be the most popular of Italian white wines, but in my humble opinion there are many interesting choices that are often overlooked. A case in point is Falanghina. This dry white, native to the southern region of Campania, has a bright yellow color with a slightly green tint.

The Nativ Falanghina 2012 is made from100% Falanghina grapes and has a beautiful soft and balanced mouth feel with a lingering aromatic finish that reminded me somewhat of a French wine. On the nose the bouquet is rich, and intense with hints of white flowers, lychee, green plum and a bit of sage and rosemary. Your first sip will bring more plum with pineapple, and citrus. The Falanghina is delightfully fresh with crisp acidity that stays with you until your next delicious sip.

The Nativ Falanghina is a versatile wine that is terrific as an aperitif, with hors d'oeuvres, seafood and shellfish dishes, salads, and fresh cheeses. A simple shrimp and romaine salad with a bit of shallots drizzled with a light dressing (hold the mayo ) will do nicely. Serve this wine well chilled.
