As one of the noble grape varietals and one of the five esteemed grapes of Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon claims the role of the respected elder of the wine family. Cabernet Sauvignon adapts well to different climates and as such is widely planted across the wine-producing world: France, Argentina, Chile, New York, and, of course, California, all produce fantastic expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon.
A full-bodied, dry red, Cabernet is at its best when paired with a steak or roast and also shows well with hearty dishes like stews and chili. With excellent aging potential, Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine you can cellar and enjoy five, ten, even fifteen years in the future. And don't forget: a little-known tip is that Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect pairing for chocolate!

JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, May 3, 2022 Dark plums, blackberries, blackcurrants, tar, graphite and cloves on the nose. Some praline and chocolate. It’s medium-bodied with rounded tannins. Creamy and dark-fruited. Drink or hold.RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2022 The varietal 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon has textbook aromas and flavors of blackberries, herbs and spices combined in a neat way. It’s medium-bodied, balanced and fresh, with a serious, dry finish. (Luis Gutiérrez)
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022 The 2019 Noaillac retains the superb bouquet from barrel, featuring blackberry and bilberry fruit, ripe and generous, while maintaining fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Classic in style, and a little fleshier than before, with black pepper and cedar on the finish. An excellent Noaillac. (Neal Martin)JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, February 20, 2022 Sweet berries and plums with some rose-petal and stem undertones. Full-bodied with round tannins and delicious fruit, with a light vanilla undertone at the end. Drink after 2023.
WE8888 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022 Fun and quaffable, this ruby-red wine imparts aromas and flavors of chocolate, black cherry, blackberry, boysenberry, vanilla, fennel and a hint of flaky pastry. Tannins are assertive, but well balanced, giving the wine structure. They are perfectly matched with the ripe, juicy—almost jammy—flavors of the fruits, which take front and center stage throughout the tasting. (Stacy Briscoe)
WE8686 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2022 This medium-bodied wine shows a strong oaky scent of cedar, chocolate and cloves that continues on the palate, subduing the plummy fruit flavors.
JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, June 1, 2020 This is a deep, richer palate with currants, flowers, white chocolate and some almonds. It’s full-bodied with plush tannins and a chewy finish. Yet, it’s so attractive and pretty. A blend of 50% cabernet sauvignon, 21% merlot, 11% cabernet franc, 9% petit verdot and 9% malbec. Needs more time. Try after 2022.JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/15/2020 Based on 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec, the 2017 Perigee Estate Seven Hills Vineyard offers more classic cassis, tobacco, and sappy herbs as well as a solid sense of minerality. Full-bodied, concentrated, and beautifully balanced as well as elegant, give it 3–5 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following two decades or more. (Jeb Dunnuck)VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020 Bright, saturated ruby-red. Blackberry, boysenberry, licorice and minerals on the nose, lifted by topnotes of Tellicherry pepper and violet. Very suave, silky and smooth, conveying enticing sweetness to its refined dark berry, spice and mineral flavors. Terrific energy and delineation here, and long and suave on the rising finish, where the dusty tannins are beautifully buffered by the wine’s material. A lovely showing, even if this very juicy wine is still a bit youthfully imploded. This may be the most floral of the current red wine releases from L’Ecole.RP92+92+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Oct 2020 The 2017 Perigee Seven Hills Vineyard Estate is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 9% each of Petit Verdot and Malbec. The nose opens to an expressive fruit core, highlighting juicy dark red fruit and spiced blackberry essence. Aromas of cinnamon-spiced dark cherries, sweet plums and a dusty minerality sway out of the glass with elements of an exotic floral bouquet. Full-bodied, the wine shows layers and a delineated, fresh frame with succulent tannins, offering a balanced structure across the mid-palate. The mouthfeel shows finesse with a purity of fruit before lingering with persistence, vibrancy and a subtle red spice reflection over the elongated finish. This is delicious juice.WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 8/1/2020 Cabernet Sauvignon makes up half of this wine, with the rest Merlot (21%), Cabernet Franc (11%), Petit Verdot (9%) and Malbec (9%). Brooding aromas of cherry, plum, mocha, graphite, cherry and herb lead to medium-bodied fruit flavors, backed by tart acidity and firm, grainy tannins. The structure is lovely. It needs some time to stretch its legs, with the tannins giving a bigger impression than they often do from this vineyard. Best after 2024.
WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2022 From a large, 113-acre estate, this wine is dense, structured and full of dark coffee and spice flavors allied to rich tannins. Blackberry fruits shine through this texture promising aging. Drink from 2026. (Roger Voss)VN92+92+ pts. - Vinous - Dec 2021 The 2019 Lilian Ladouys has gained a little more refinement since I tasted it in barrel, the black fruit now dominant and interlaced with tobacco and pencil box scents, less Margaux-like than previously. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, slightly powdery tannins. Classic in style, with that touch of brine on the finish. I admire the way it lingers in the mouth. Afford this 3–5 years in bottle. (Neal Martin)JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022 This château continues to bring the goods, and their 2019 Château Lilian Ladouys offers a medium-bodied, supple, elegant, and certainly delicious style as well as complex notes of redcurrants, darker mulberries, cedary spice, and dried herbs. It shows the elegant, more mid-weight side to the vintage, yet the balance is spot on, it has ripe tannins, and it’s going to keep for 15+ years. (Jeb Dunnuck)RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 7th Apr 2022 Offering up aromas of sweet berries, cherries, licorice and spices, the 2019 Lilian Ladouys is medium to full-bodied, ample and charming, with a giving, easygoing profile and a clean, precise finish. It’s a competent effort that shows none of the appellation’s stereotypically hard edges. (William Kelley)
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - May 2022 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers a hugely appealing mix of fruit richness married to the savory, structured style that is the Ridge signature. The 2019 is beautifully exotic, but natural without the volume of the Monte Bello. I imagine it will drink splendidly with minimal cellaring. Succulent red cherry, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and pomegranate. (Antonio Galloni)SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022 Distinctive, with a burst of singed vanilla and savory leading off, followed by dark plum and blackberry puree notes that stream through. Shows singed mesquite and a sanguine note as this unfolds. Sleek, tight-grained finish. Best from 2023 through 2033. 6,800 cases made. (James Molesworth)
JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, December 5, 2021 A very aromatic red, offering baking spices, such as cinnamon, cloves and anisette, as well as notes of ripe blackcurrants, plums and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with soft tannins and a ripe yet vibrant and juicy fruit core. Long, warming finish. Drinkable now, but better in a few years.SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022 Ripe and caressing in feel, with cassis and plum paste mixed with toasted vanilla and sweet tobacco. A subtle cedar twinge adds range on the generous finish. Drink now through 2028. 26,100 cases made. (James Molesworth)
